The ninth (category of الْمَنْصُوْب ) is like “رَؤُوْفاً” and “رَسُوْلَ” in “يَا رَؤُوْفاً بِالْعِبَادِ” (O You who are compassionate towards the servants) and “يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ” (O Messenger of Allah) and is called “مُنَادىً” (Object of Address, Addressee, Vocative). |
Explanation:
When we call someone by his name or title / epithet, and we say: “يَا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَانِ” (O Abdurrahman), “يَا زَيْنَ الْعَابِدِيْنَ” (O Beauty of the Worshippers), or “يَا رَفِيْعَ الْقَدْرِ” (O you of elevated status), then that which comes after the word “يَا” (O) – which is “عَبْدَ” in the first example, “زَيْنَ” in the second and “رَفِيْعَ” in the third – is called “مُنَادىً” (Object of Address, Addressee or Vocative), and it is مَنْصُوْب .
Similar to these examples are:
(O You who show compassion to the servants),
(O he who is negligent, while death is pursuing him),
(O Messenger of Allah) and
(O Most Honorable of Creation)
Such is the case with every اسْم occurring after the حَرْف النِّدَاءِ (particle of addressing).
